We seek out and uplift New American leaders who approach campaigning and governance with authenticity and accountability to help ensure their victories on the ballot. Many New Americans are political newcomers, and often the first in their family to be elected. Without an “old boys network”, wealth, or a family political legacy, they can struggle to win their elections, succeed in office, and navigate and reform systems of power that were set up without their voices or community needs in mind.
We are here to help. From the time a New American leader starts considering running for office, through their campaign, and once they are in office, we provide vital support and resources to help them expand our democracy.
NALAF supports its endorsed candidates in a meaningful and collaborative way. Each candidate receives support based on the competitiveness of their race and whether it falls within the political priorities of the endorsement program.
There are many ways in which NALAF can assist its endorsed candidates.
Endorse Early: NALAF aims to make early endorsements of candidates who meet the endorsement criteria in order to provide them with validation and momentum.
Promote Your Candidacy: NALAF candidates will be promoted on the NALAF web site. This not only elevates their profile, but also allows NALAF supporters to provide direct financial support to the candidates’ campaigns. NALAF will also promote these candidacies in other communications to its supporters.
Communications and Outreach: As resources permit, NALAF will support campaign with digital advertising, field outreach, written materials, and other media.
Offer Technical Support: As legally permissible, NALAF will provide trainings and outreach on building a winning campaign and recommend consultants who have successful track records of working in similar races.
Invite to NALAF Events: Endorsees are welcome to attend NALAF events to develop relationships within the NALAF network.
